Meet Kris Bork author of the Furrever Friends Cat Cafe series
If you love animals and you love books and reading then it makes sense to pick up stories featuring pets, and animal rescue topics.
A new feature I’m starting here at LLAPETS is interviews with authors who write stories that I think pet lovers will enjoy, so please welcome my first guest author Kris Bock…
Tell us about yourself and how the Furrever Friends Cat Café series came to be?
Twenty-five years ago, I started writing for children, using the nameChris Eboch. I have eight middle grade novels (for ages 9 to 12) published under that name. I also write a lot of educational nonfiction.
I use the name Kris Bock for my adult romance, mystery, and romantic suspense. I’m up to seven cat café books, five cowboy romances, six humorous mysteries, and six romantic suspense novels under that name. So, I have over 100 published books now, including fiction and nonfiction, for children and adults. The variety keeps me interested!
I had noticed lots of sweet, small-town romance series involving dogs, but few with cats. I think it’s because dogs clearly bring people together –dog parks, walking your dog, obedience training – while cats don’t.
Until you consider cat cafés, a relatively recent trend that has grown quickly, with hundreds of cat cafés all around the world. Typically, they partner with a shelter, so all the cats you can visit are available for adoption. This gives visitors a chance to spend more quality time with the cats before they choose one. Those of us who can’t keep a cat in the home for whatever reason can at least visit some.
What types of stories can readers expect to find in the Furrever Friends Cat Café books?
The Furrever Friends Sweet Romance series features the workers and customers at a small-town cat café, and the adorable cats and kittens looking for their forever homes. Each book is a complete story with a happy ending for one couple (and maybe more than one rescued cat).
The characters cover a range of ages, jobs, and personality types. Two of the books feature main characters over fifty. One book stars college-age baristas. The other characters range from late 20s to early 40s. All the stories are sweet (low heat) and designed to leave readers feeling good.

Do you have any pets of your own and if so, we’d love to hear more about them?
Any plans for more animal related stories?
Most of my books have animals, and I expect that will continue. I just started a new mystery series where the main character has cats, ferrets, guinea pigs, and rats. Even in The Accidental Detective humorous mystery series, the main character has a cat, though he doesn’t play a major role.
In the Accidental Billionaire Cowboys sweet romance series, a Texas ranching family finds out winning the lottery causes as many problems as it solves. That series has lots of animals, from dogs and cats to llamas and ostriches!
My treasure hunting adventures each have a different main couple, but some characters show up in each book. Desert Gold introduces two friends, Erin and Camie, and Camie’s oversized orange cat Tiger. Camie and Tiger help out in Valley of Gems, and they’re the main characters – along with a love interest for Camie – in Silver Canyon. I think Tiger may be my most popular character ever. He goes hiking with Camie and has been known to attack intruders. Some people think his behavior is unrealistic, while others swear they’ve known a cat just like him.
Basically, I think animals make any book better!
Do you work with any animal shelters or rescues?
Not officially, though I follow many on social media and support some financially. I’ve been thinking about trying to foster, after we no longer have Bear Bear.
Kris Bock is the author of The Accidental Detective humorous mystery series, the Accidental Billionaire Cowboys sweet romance series, the Felony Melanie: Sweet Home Alabama romantic comedy novels, and the Furrever Friends cat cafe sweet romance series.
